Still time to apply for assistance through Hidalgo County CSA Through July 31st

EDINBURG – There is still time to apply for rental assistance if you are a qualifying Hidalgo County resident who has been adversely affected by COVID-19 as a Federal Eviction Moratorium reaches its’ deadline on Saturday, July 31.

“A federal eviction moratorium will expire on Saturday, but our offices still greatly encourage qualifying residents to reach out for help if they need it,” said Hidalgo County Community Service Agency Director Jaime Longoria.

Authorized through the Federal Treasury, $26 million is being provided to Hidalgo County for emergency rent support in which funds will be paid directly to the landlord or company of ownership. Landlords may also apply on behalf of a tenant who meets the criteria.

Interested applicants may begin to apply online at www.hidalgocsa.org. For any questions regarding the application process, they may call 1-833-209-5023. The call center is open from Monday – Saturday until 6 p.m. to assist landlords and tenants.

To qualify for this program, renters must meet the following criteria:

·         Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to

·         Has a combined household income at or below 80 percent of the area median income
