McALLEN / EDINBURG – South Texas College, this Friday and Saturday, will be celebrating nearly 4,000 graduates earning certificates, associate degrees or bachelor’s degrees during its spring semester Commencement Ceremonies.

Friday’s three ceremonies will focus on the nearly 2,000 Dual Credit students from STC’s 21 partnering school districts in Starr and Hidalgo Counties, who will be graduating college before earning a high school diploma.

During Saturday’s 1:30 p.m. ceremony, STC will present a posthumous degree to the family of Francisco Javier Mejia. He was set to graduate with an associate degree in Kinesiology. He passed away in December from Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer. The posthumous degree will be accepted by Mejia’s three sons.
