McALLEN, Texas – South Texas College Theatre and Dance returns for its 16th year with a full lineup of productions for the 2025-2026 season filled with comedy, improvisation, suspense, movement and imagination. STC Theatre & Dance invites the community to join STC’s Theatre for another year of fun and quality entertainment. All productions will be held at STC’s Cooper Center for Performing Arts, located at the Pecan Campus, 3200 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen.

Expect outrageous costumes, wild improvisation, audience interaction and an irreverent crash course in the Bard’s greatest hits. 

In the spring, productions continue with Homer’s The Odyssey, drama by Gregory A. Falls and Kurt Beattie whichopens on February 19, 2026. The Odysseyis an action-filled adaptation of Homer’s classic which uses masks, songs, mime and percussion to tell this epic adventure.  Join Odysseus and his crew on their journey home as they encounter cyclops, sorceresses, sirens and the gods’ wrath.  Meanwhile, Odysseus’ wife, Penelope, and her son, Telemachus, defend their home from ill-intentioned suitors who overstayed their welcome in her home and demand she chooses a new husband.

STC Theatre and Dance continues its season with STC Dance Collective’s Transcendence 2026, running April 25. This event showcases the talents of the South Texas College Dance Collective which is composed of STC students, community members and dance professionals from the Rio Grande Valley.  Transcendence 2026 is a series of visionary works that explore the human experience through raw physicality and storytelling.  The exhilarating fusion of movement, sound and theatricality bring to life an event that resonates with all audiences. The STC Dance Collective explores the power of their own lived experiences to present dance works that transport its audiences to familiar and not so familiar places, and states of mind. 

The 2025-2026 season wraps up with STC’s 5thAnnual South Texas New Play Festival scheduled for June 2026. STXNPF is the only one of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley, dedicated to showcasing the unique voices and stories of all regions. The event will feature a full workshop production of one of last year’s standout stage readings, alongside three exciting new scripts selected through a rigorous blind review process. The festival is an opportunity for writers to create and cultivate their stories and share them with everyone.

General admission tickets for Main Stage and Black Box Studio productions are $5. Tickets can either be purchased online using a credit card or on the day of the performance. Tickets can be purchased at the box office with CASH OR CHECK ONLY.

Ticket sales help fund STC Theatre and Dance productions throughout the year and the Dr. John F. Carroll Drama Scholarship. Community members interested in supporting STC Theatre’s creative venture, are invited to donate at southtexascollege.edu/go/theatre.
