Current President and CEO of Yahoo! Marissa Mayer said, “I love technology, and I don’t think it’s something that should divide along gender lines.”

South Texas College is one of many educational institutions around the country that wants to challenge women to pursue careers in technology by exposing current and potential female students to a vast array of technology fields of study, where salaries can range from $40,000 per year and oscillate to over six digit figures.

STC will host a Women in Technology event on March 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the college’s Technology Campus, located at 3700 W. Military Hwy. in McAllen. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will hold special high school workshops from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the evening portion of the event will begin at 5 p.m.

Gift bags and door prizes will be given away over the course of the event, refreshments will be served and a fashion show will be held among the variety of activities.
