“I received a letter of resignation effective immediately from Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, Place 2 Ismael “Melo” Ochoa late this afternoon.

Judge Ochoa has dedicated 24 years of his life to serving the people in the communities of La Joya, Mission and Alton and has served us well.

It is my intention to place an item on the next Commissioners Court agenda to formally accept Judge Ochoa’s resignation and to act on the appointment of his replacement. It is important that we act quickly to ensure that there is as little disruption to service to the constituents in western Hidalgo County as possible.” – Hidalgo County Judge Ramon Garcia
