STARR COUNTY, Texas – The Starr County Industrial Foundation is thrilled to announce the upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony for Starr Solar Farm, a 163MW transformative renewable energy initiative brought to life by Lightsource bp, in Starr County, Texas. This impressive, privately funded $230 million project marks a pivotal advancement in our journey toward energy independence and fostering a healthier environment for our residents.

Celebrating the completion of the construction phase, which has generated 200 temporary jobs and supported domestic supply chains, this event underscores the vital role of community engagement in economic initiatives.
“Renewable energy projects like these help strengthen Texas’ energy security and boost our local economy by supporting domestic supply chains, and promoting environmental stewardship. As we celebrate the launch of this initiative, we are reminded of the collective efforts necessary to build a brighter future for the residents of Starr County,” said Rose Benavidez, President of SCIF.
Once fully operational, the Starr Solar Farm will provide affordable renewable electricity to the Texas grid, significantly enhancing the state’s energy security and aligning with our mission of advancing development. We invite all community members and stakeholders to join us in this momentous celebration, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose that embodies the values of the Starr County Industrial Foundation.
