EDINBURG, TX – South Texas Literacy Coalition (STLC) was nominated as the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce February Business of the Month.
The South Texas Literacy Coalition was established in 2007 and seeks to impact the lives of families and children through the power of literacy.
STLC was created during the Hispanic Engineering Science Technology Conference (HESTEC) as a means to address the literacy rate crisis facing South Texas.
“We wanted to highlight South Texas Literacy Coalition for their dedication to grow our community through book donations, educational workshops, and literacy enhancing activities. Their volunteerism is inspiring as they dedicate their time and energy every week to organize free book distribution in our community, ” said Ronnie Larralde, Executive Director at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce.
Currently, STLC continues outreach programming through community partnerships that lead to more literate communities. The organization creates and implements quality programs and annual events to address key literacy issues facing our community.
