Edinburg, Texas– The 2nd Annual South Texas International Film Festival to be held in Edinburg, Texas promises to be another huge event. More than 102 submissions in Feature Film and Short Film categories have been submitted.
Along with the popular STXIFF Red Carpet and Official Selection Screenings, this year also features the 2016 Film Industry Expo allowing enthusiasts, students, and professionals to join in on special film workshops, trainings, and networking opportunities. This year’s show also welcomes widely-popular associations NALIP and NOSOTROS representatives; NALIP & NOSOTROS focus primarily on Latino progression in filmmaking, and the Rio Grande Valley could be the perfect place to target this growth.
NALIP, or, the National Association for Latino Independent Producers mission is to promote, advance, and educate for Latino content creators across media. NALIP holds values in serving a commitment of respect for diversity based on a code of ethics open to differences. The association has held more than 13 national conferences, and six national initiatives while still expanding to better serve membership and community involvement. NALIP is also known for firmly pushing to break typecasting of Latino actors.
The STXIFF also extends a welcome to Joel Gonzalez, President of NOSOTROS the oldest National Latino arts advocacy. NOSOTROS, much like NALIP, focuses on developing and spotlighting Latinos in entertainment while defining the term “unity.” The advocacy, founded in 1970, provides a widely diverse range of arts, education, and mentorship programs that enrich the lives of participating youth, communities, and program members.
Both organizations representatives whose headquarters are in California will have much to share and discuss during The South Texas International Film Festival on September 9-10 at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance.
