WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) proudly took the oath of office to represent Texas’s 15th Congressional District in the 119th Congress. As she begins her second term, De La Cruz reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the critical challenges facing South Texas, including the ongoing water crisis, economic growth, and lowering costs for hardworking families.
“It is an honor to once again serve the incredible people of South Texas in Congress,” said Congresswoman De La Cruz. “In my first term, I worked tirelessly to deliver results, including passing six bipartisan pieces of legislation to stop the flow of illicit drugs across the border, and ensuring our veterans have access to healthcare and housing. My legislative successes included protecting our children from trauma and securing funding for our communities to drive economic growth and prosperity. This term, I’m doubling down on securing water resources, fighting inflation, and ensuring South Texans have the tools they need to thrive. I look forward to working with the Trump Administration and the GOP majority in Congress to get results for South Texas.”
As the founder of the South Texas Water Working Group, De La Cruz remains a leading advocate for addressing the region’s long-term water needs. She emphasized that resolving this crisis is a top priority for her new term. “Reliable water resources are essential for our farmers, ranchers, and families,” she said. “I will continue working with federal, state, and local leaders to find sustainable solutions.”
During her first term, De La Cruz earned a reputation for effective leadership, passing six significant pieces of legislation, one becoming law. These pieces of legislation included efforts to stop the financing and trafficking of illicit drugs across the border – the first bill to become law from a TX-15 congressperson in nearly 20 years – as well as to provide housing support for disabled veterans and improve resources for children affected by trauma.
