MCALLEN, TEXAS (April 16, 2018) The Business, Public Safety, and Technology Division at South Texas College will once again be hosting the Women in Technology event Thursday, April 19.
The event will highlight careers in technology considered as non- traditional for females.
STC Information Technology Program instructor and organizer of the event, Angelita Teniente says events like this are crucial for women who are interested in pursuing non-traditional fields.
“The event is extremely important for spreading the word about the opportunities and possible careers available for everyone, including women,” said Teniente. “Careers in automotive, welding, information technology, and manufacturing just to name a few. The event is also a celebration that not only provides information regarding career opportunities for women, but also honors women in the community who represent some of our programs.”
The event will include information booths from programs in the Business, Public Safety, and Technology Division including Fire Science, Police Academy, Engineering Design, Culinary Arts, and Construction.
