Texas Border Business
McAllen, Texas – South Texas College’s Business Administration Department will host a conference on the possible changes to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) April 20.
The event will cover issues that directly impact the border. Dr. Kevin Peek, Associate Professor of Economics at South Texas College says the conference is an opportunity to understand how NAFTA renegotiations could change the quality of life in South Texas.
“The conference is a truly bilingual/ binational event that brings together experts from both sides of the border to discuss how potential changes to NAFTA will affect the regional economy,” said Peek. “Investment, job creation, and ongoing prosperity are some of the topics that will be discussed in relation to the renegotiations of the NAFTA.”
The conference will include roundtable discussions on strategies that can be applied to prepare for changes in NAFTA. There is no admittance fee to attend and lunch will be provided.
The “Renegotiating NAFTA: Challenges and Opportunities” conference will take place on Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts located in 3200 W. Pecan Blvd., McAllen, Texas.
