McAllen, TX (August 21, 2015) – In an effort to assist a surge of students who are registering for the fall 2015 semester, South Texas College has announced it will be open on Sunday, August 23, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for a Registration Rush at the Pecan Campus located at 3201 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. Classes start on August 24. The Sunday Registration Rush is in addition to the college’s expanded Student Services hours that are currently available Saturdays in August from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pecan, Mid-Valley and Starr County Campuses. “We’ve had a high traffic week with more than 980 students coming to campus in the last four days to register for the upcoming fall semester, and we anticipate even more this weekend,” said Wanda Garza, STC interim VP for student affairs and enrollment management. “Students have been taking advantage of one-on-one help from all of our Student Services including Cashiers where installment plans and emergency loans are still available. Our staff is ready to assist students and their parents at the Pecan Campus this Sunday.” In addition to Student Services, the STC Bookstore will also be open during the Sunday Registration Rush at the Pecan Campus. “This really is an opportunity for students to come in person and get everything they need to be ready for their first week of classes,” said Garza. “They can rest assured that they have everything in place to start the semester strong and focus on their classes.” Available Student Services at the Pecan Campus Bldg. K include Advising, Counseling, Testing Departments, Financial Aid and Cashiers. Plenty of parking will also be available. Fall classes start August 24.
