Texas Border Business
McAllen, TEXAS – South Texas College’s Library Art Gallery proudly presents Borderígena, an exhibit with layered mixed-media paintings by Jesus De La Rosa. De La Rosa was raised in the Rio Grande Valley and Nuevo Progreso, Mexico. He spent his early life traveling across the U.S/Mexico border as a result of his parents working in Mexico and living in Texas. His borderland experience plays a pivotal role in his art practice. De La Rosa earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and a Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University at Columbus, where he was awarded a Graduate Enrichment Fellowship. As an Associate Professor of Art at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, De La Rosa teaches introductory and advanced courses in printmaking and graphic design.
Borderígena will be located on the first floor of the Pecan Library Art Gallery, inside Building F.
Also running concurrently is Our Lady of Guadalupe Community Exhibit. The group exhibit will feature many artwork depictions inspired by La Virgen de Guadalupe. The purpose of this exhibition is to allow the community to share their artistic vision of La Virgen de Guadalupe as a cultural icon for her birthday on December 12.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Community Exhibit will be located on the 2nd floor of the Pecan Library Art Gallery.
Both exhibits open Oct. 17 and run through December 12, 2019.
