McAllen, TX (August 6, 2015) – South Texas College, in partnership with Valley Metro, has announced updates to their JagExpress bus routes throughout Hidalgo and Starr counties that will be available starting August 17, 2015. The JagExpress connects all five of the college’s campuses, provides free Wi-Fi and is free to students, faculty and staff with a valid STC identification.

“We wanted to make sure every student had transportation to our campuses in order to register for the fall semester before classes start on August 24,” said Wanda Garza, interim vice president for student affairs & enrollment management at South Texas College. The JagExpress has been running for a year now, and we’ve seen first-hand the difference it makes in our students’ lives as a means for reliable transportation.”

One of the most exciting updates to the JagExpress bus routes will have a positive effect in Starr County, where the Green Line has been expanded to include a route to Roma. The route will start at the STC Starr County Campus with a direct route to Roma and back to the Starr County Campus.

Updates to the JagExpress Yellow Line were a direct response to students’ needs and requests for faster route times between the college’s McAllen-based campuses. Now, students will only have a 20 minute wait between buses that connect the Pecan, Technology and Nursing and Allied Health Campuses.

The Purple Line will continue to connect the Mid-Valley Campus to the Pharr Teaching Center and Nursing & Allied Health Campus.

“Students are encouraged to take advantage of these routes to register for classes,” said Garza. “We want everyone to have access to our campuses and student services.”
