McAllen, Texas – The Sociology Department and the Centers for Learning Excellence at South Texas College (STC) will be hosting a Family Day event on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mid-Valley Campus.
The purpose of the event is to promote education, offer family enrollment resources, assist with financial aid questions, and introduce community members to STC’s services and facilities.
“This event provides a chance for our students to shine and show off the campus to their families and the community,” said Regina Mason, learning excellence specialist. “The entire community is invited to Family Day for food, fun, family, and entertainment.”
There will be booths with hands-on activities representing the many programs that STC provides and their related careers, such as Continuing Education, Access Esperanza Health Clinic, Dual2Degree, Veterans Affairs, and the Child Development Center.
All activities and events will be available in Spanish and English. Student-led tours start at 10 a.m. at the Weslaco STC campus flagpole.
“South Texas College has many resources free to the community, and we want everyone to know about them,” said Manson. “We offer services and classes no matter what a person’s document, language, or educational status is.”
