Weslaco, Texas – South Texas College’s Mid-Valley Campus will celebrate the opening of its newly constructed Health Professions and Sciences Building, library renovations and additional building expansions with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, April 26.
The community is invited to view the state-of-the-art facilities that will help provide students with the skills needed to compete in high-skill, in-demand careers.
The new construction includes the Health Professions and Sciences Building that spans over 77,000 square feet. The Mid-Valley Campus Library was also renovated and expanded. The Student Services Building was expanded to include a new enrollment center that will assist the more than 3,500 students that register for classes at the campus. The new center is also intended to be a one-stop service center for all services related to the admissions, enrollment, and financial services process.
Mid-Valley Campus Administrator, Daniel Montez says this expansion will directly benefit the surrounding community and promote economic development and regional prosperity.
“This expansion is a gateway for future generations,” said Montez. “It is a commitment that we undertook many years ago and it is an investment in the most valuable asset that we have, our children.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on the south side of Building K at the Mid- Valley Campus Thursday, April 26 at 10 a.m. located at 400 N Border Ave. in Weslaco.
