OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA (March 22, 2017) — The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) www.acbsp.org Associate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded South Texas College in McAllen, Texas, www.southtexascollege.edu, accreditation of its business programs.
Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs offered through the Division of Business & Technology at South Texas College meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.
“Every department here at STC obviously has to be accredited, one of our accreditations is through ACBSP which fall in line with SACS plus the business department end of things,” said Ricardo Olivares, Business Administration Program Chair at STC. “We needed to make sure that all of our instructors were qualified and we met all of the requirements along with dual enrollment.
Faculty and our classes were all reviewed and found to be excellent,” Olivares said. “The progress is still ongoing. Now that we are accredited, we can’t take a breath. We will continue to improve to make our programs even better.”
Staff and faculty with the Division of Business and Technology now head to California in August to officially receive their accreditation from ACBSP.
“The accreditation process is something very important for us,” said Eduardo Pastor Jr., Program Chair for the Business Administration Academic transfer plan at STC. “It gives recognition and assurance for the community and students that our program is highly recognized. It proves that our faculty is exceptional, and it gives universities and colleges that the degree they are obtaining from STC will be accredited around the country.”
Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether or not the business programs offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.
“South Texas College has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2017 in Anaheim, California, USA, on June 26. “This accreditation is evidence that STC is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”
