Genaro Escobedo from Donna & Antonio Castillo from McAllen will perform again in Toro Sentado/Sitting Bull. Both men return to the outdoor stage this Thursday, evening, May 27 at 7 p.m. at the new Pharr/Vanguard Nature Center at 1025 S Richmond Drive in Pharr.
The 14-minute monologue written by Mercedes Varela Garcia from Reynosa and directed by Pedro Garcia from Pharr will be presented by the Pharr Community Theater, Co., and the Pharr Parks and Recreation Dept., first in English and then in Spanish. Marco Morales will be a guest singer and native American chants will be played during the short intermission.
The educational story pays homage to the Lakota Sioux Medicine Man & Chief who lived his life between 1831 and 1890, mostly in South & North Dakota. The family, friendly play boasts a full-dress costume designed by Victoria Magallanes and a makeshift set by Jennifer Garcia.
