Gudino then shared his gratitude to the City of McAllen and the McAllen EDC for their continued support in making his dream a reality. “What began as a small production fourteen years ago with four employees, we now have 250 employees and this brand new facility encompassing over 100,000 square feet, full climate control, 21 loading docks and equipped with the state of the art technology, “ Gudino shared. He stated SiCar Farms is responsible for the distribution of fresh produce to the U.S. and Canadian markets.

With “determination” as to the theme of the evening, Gudino shared the story of his first lime shipment fourteen years ago. “When I first received the first load of limes from Mexico, I had no idea to whom I was going to sell it to, but my commitment was that I was going to sell everything that we grow.” With an emotional crowd to support his expansion, he reassured his commitment to all who have helped reach this goal. “Our commitment to the city of McAllen is to keep generating employment opportunities, and our projection is to double our operations within the next five years. McAllen is centrally located, near the border, where our produce is crossed, making it very accessible and our best option.”

After the official ribbon-cutting, Gudino invited groups of fifty to tour the facility and state-of-the-art operations for packing, racking, and loading. The facility is the newest U.S. member of the GO Group, which is a vertically integrated company from covering all segments, from production greenhouses, fields, packing houses, juice and oil processor plants, and transportation services, as well as distribution centers in the U.S.
