PHARR, Texas – The Food Bank RGV’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a seniors only food program, has a temporary increase in availability for up to 170 more clients. The program offers government cheese and commodities on a monthly basis for eligible applicants within the Food Bank RGV service area of Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties. Applicants that are not eligible for CSFP will still be able to access emergency food assistance from the Food Bank RGV.
Applicants must be 60 years or older and meet a low-income threshold. The availability is temporary through June 30, 2022 and is on a first come, first serve basis.
Applicants may apply over the phone Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. by calling (956) 682-8101 and selecting option 3 or calling 956-904-4520 for The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) or “Senior Box Program.” Applicants will need to have valid photo identification, proof of income and most tax return, bank statement, social security award letter.
