SAN ANTONIO – Yesterday, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) held several meetings in Del Rio with members of the local Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, and U.S. District Judge Alia Moses to discuss the impact of September’s migrant surge on the area as well as other policy priorities important to the Del Rio community.
Sen. Cornyn then held a roundtable with the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce along with local business and community stakeholders to hear how cross-border migration is affecting the area.
Following the roundtable, Sen. Cornyn had lunch at the local Border Patrol union hall with several Border Patrol agents and Customs officers to hear directly from those working on the front lines of the Del Rio Sector about the challenges they face in protecting border communities.
He then received a tour of the border and met with Border Patrol Del Rio Sector personnel, including their newly appointed Sector Chief, Jesse Owens.
