WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) met today with U.S. Commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) Dr. Maria-Elena Giner to discuss the Treaty Relating to the Utilization of Waters of the Colorado and Tijuana Rivers and of the Rio Grande between the U.S. and Mexico. In August, Sen. Cornyn called U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to express some of his concerns with the treaty’s implementation, and he also wrote a letter earlier this year urging the State Department to engage with Mexico to ensure it fulfills its obligation to release owed water to the U.S. each year.
