Weslaco — U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez and other local officials and toured the local flood control projects and had a discussion on international trade and regional economic development.

First, Sen. Cornyn toured three Hidalgo County flood control projects (the Raymondville Drain, the Delta Region Water Management Project, and the Panchitas Structure) with local elected officials and representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC).  He then received a briefing and participated in a roundtable discussion at the Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Office on the impact of floods in the past two years.

Sen. Cornyn also joined local elected officials, city leadership, and international bridge directors from Mission, Pharr, McAllen, and Donna for a roundtable discussion on international trade and economic development after a tour of the Commodities Integrated Logistics (CIL) warehouse.
