McAllen, Texas — Sarah Sagredo-Hammond, a McAllen-area small business owner, mom, and community leader, announced today her candidacy for Texas House District 41, pledging to bring practical, Valley-first solutions to the Capitol.
“For nine years, I’ve been fighting at the Capitol, not for politics, but for people like us.” Sagredo-Hammond said. “I’ve sat in those committee rooms where people make decisions about the Rio Grande Valley without ever having walked our streets. Our family business has served South Texas for more than forty years, and there were moments I thought I’d lose it, not because we didn’t work hard enough, but because the people elected to serve us stopped listening. If Austin won’t bring the Rio Grande Valley to the table, I will bring the Rio Grande Valley to Austin.”
Sarah, whose family company has created local jobs across the Valley, framed her campaign around courage, commitment, and community that lifts people up instead of pulling them apart. She outlined an agenda focused on cutting costs for families and empowering small businesses, while investing in infrastructure and community.
“I’m not a politician,” Sarah added. “I’m a neighbor who is tired of watching good people get left behind while Austin argues with itself. Paperwork piled higher than profits. Insurance premiums spiked. Property appraisals went through the roof. And when we asked for help, we got political speeches instead of practical solutions. This is personal for me. Because when politicians stop listening, neighbors have to step up. That’s exactly why I’m running for District 41.”
