Pharr, Texas – Every year, nearly four million young people are served by Boys & Girls Clubs across America. To show their continued support in preparing today’s youth for a bright tomorrow, Ross Stores, Inc. partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to provide a program called, “Help Local Kids Learn.”  Throughout the month of August, Ross Dress for Less located at 500 N Jackson Rd Ste G, Pharr, TX 78577 participated by offering local customers the opportunity to contribute a monetary donation during checkout to the Boys and Girls Club of Pharr – San Juan.

Matt Young, Ross Stores Group Senior Vice President stated his support to the national campaign prior to kick off.

“Ross Stores is very excited to host the seventh annual Help Local Kids Learn in-store campaign for the Boys & Girls Clubs. This campaign will directly help kids at local Clubs across the country. Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Ross’ strong partnership of 15 years is rooted in both organizations’ shared commitment to help young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible leaders,” said Matt Young, Group Senior Vice President of Stores.

Through the campaign and the support of the community, Pharr’s Ross Dress for Less provided Boys & Girls Club of Pharr-San Juan with a generous monetary donation of $5,000, which will directly impact the organization’s Power Hour Program. This educational program is implemented every weekday through BGCPSJ’s Afterschool program at their 4 club site locations. Power Hour encourages academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities and motivating members to become self-directed learners.

Boys & Girls Club of Pharr – San Juan continues to serves as a positive, out of school experience for youth, teens, and families of Pharr, San Juan and surrounding communities. The organization has 4 club sites and 5 in-school sites, where over 1,000 members are served each school day. Each day, safety is the #1 priority with measures including supervision in each program area, hand washing/sanitizing, mask wearing, and social distancing.  The mission of BGCPSJ is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to enable all children to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible individuals. This is implemented each day through various program areas led by highly trained and dedicated team members. Daily programs include: Education Assistance, Technology, Arts & Crafts, Health, Games, Teen Center, Physical Fitness, Recreation, Meals, Socializing and the newer Youth & Family Support Services Program which focuses on mental health & wellness. The organization’s team and board of directors extends its sincerest gratitude to the Ross Gives Back campaign and the staff at Ross located at 500 N Jackson Rd Ste G, Pharr, TX 78577 for this successful and valuable partnership.
