EDINBURG, Texas – On Tuesday, in a span of less than 12 hours, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector’s McAllen and Rio Grande City stations arrested two previously convicted sex offenders and a member of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang.
Early that morning, McAllen Border Patrol agents encountered a Honduran national attempting to enter the United States illegally near Hidalgo, Texas. During record checks, it was determined that the arrested alien is a confirmed Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member.
Shortly after, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Agents encountered an adult male, Mexican national near Rio Grande City, Texas. The subject was transported to the Rio Grande Valley Sector Centralized Processing Center where record checks revealed the subject was arrested by Alabama Sheriff’s Office in Randolph County on October 20, 2005, and charged/convicted with Sexual Abuse 2 and sentenced to 6 months confinement.
Later that same day, agents assigned to the McAllen Border Patrol Station arrested an adult male Mexican national near Los Ebanos, Texas. During processing at the Rio Grande Valley Centralized Processing Center, record checks revealed that on September 03, 2007, the subject was arrested and charged by the Houston Texas Police Department for Sexual Assault Child. The subject was convicted on November 30, 2007, and sentenced to 2 years confinement.
Border Patrol is processing the men accordingly.
