EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents dismantle five stash houses in less than 24 hours resulting in 69 arrests.
Yesterday afternoon, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents responded to a call for assistance from the Mercedes Police Department (PD).
Mercedes PD received a report of a possible human smuggling stash house in Mercedes, Texas.
Agents and officers arrived on scene and discovered 13 illegal aliens harbored in the home. No caretaker or principal was identified at the location. Border Patrol took custody of all subjects.
Yesterday evening, RGV agents, with the assistances from the Texas Department of Public Safety and Starr County Sheriff’s Office disrupted four stash house operations in Roma, Texas, resulting in the arrest of 56 illegal aliens.
The subjects were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. All subjects were transported to the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station and processed accordingly.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.Â
