The City of Rio Grande City is excited to announce its annual Freedom Fest Celebration, set to take place on Saturday, June 29, at Basilio Villarreal Park. This year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience, presented once again in association with the Grammy-winning musical group Solido.
“We are thrilled to host the Freedom Fest Celebration, a cherished event that brings our community together to celebrate our heritage and freedom,” said Sara Hernandez, Interim Economic Development Corp. Executive Director. “We have an incredible lineup of entertainment and activities planned, and we are grateful for the continued support from Solido, whose involvement elevates the event each year.”
The celebration will feature musical performances by Kikker Daddy Legacy on Friday, June 28, 2024, and Da Krazy Pimpz and A.B. Quintanilla and the Kumbia All-Starz, with Rock and Roll James serving as the master of ceremonies on Saturday, June 29, 2024. These performances are sure to provide an exciting and lively atmosphere for attendees of all ages.
In addition to the musical entertainment, the Freedom Fest will include a cook-off competition, a softball tournament for sports enthusiasts, and a variety of vendors offering unique goods and delicious food. Carnival rides will be available for families to enjoy throughout the day. The festivities will culminate in a massive fireworks display, lighting up the night sky in a dazzling array of colors and patterns.
“The cook-off competition and softball tournament are always highlights of our event,” Hernandez said. “They bring out the best in our community, from culinary talents to athletic prowess, and provide fun for everyone involved.”
The City of Rio Grande City invites all residents and visitors to join in the festivities at Basilio Villarreal Park. The event is free and open to the public, promising a day filled with entertainment, community spirit, and celebration.
