Ride of Silence Aims to Honor and Raise Awareness

The Run, Ride and Share campaign is organizing its 5th National Ride of Silence along McAllen roadways on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 6 p.m. and wheels down at 7 p.m. The group will meet at The Monitor’s parking lot at 1400 E. Nolana Avenue in McAllen.

Over the past year, there was one reported death on the upper valley streets. The ride aims to raise awareness.

All cyclists are welcomed to ride and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured on South Texas roads. Organizers ask that you bring a helmet, water, and lights to participate.

The Ride of Silence is held in May, National Bike Month. The local ride will start with speakers, announcements, and a prayer at 6:15 pmĀ at the Monitor parking lot. The route is 10 miles long and incorporatesĀ three ghost bikes sites. The ghost bikes that will be visited in the 10-mile ride are in honor of Melissa Robles, Matthew Scott Yeager, and Mary Cloud.
