The City of Edinburg formally welcomed the RGV Vascular & Vein Institute during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 9, 2025, in a celebration hosted by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and Explore Edinburg. The event marked a pivotal step in regional healthcare development, highlighting the importance of early intervention in vascular health and the prevention of life-altering complications, such as limb amputation.

Ronnie Larralde, Executive Director of the Chamber, opened the ceremony by thanking the community and the team behind the new institute. “We’re happy to be here with Dr. Pedro Mego, FSCAI, and Dr. Schamma Salomon, RPVI. Congratulations to you and your team for this wonderful opening in the City of Edinburg,” he said. Larralde emphasized Edinburg’s fast-paced growth and its emergence as a key hub for education, entertainment, and healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley. “With that comes a lot of responsibility,” he added, expressing gratitude that the Institute had chosen to join the city’s expanding medical community.

Several notable leaders were present at the ceremony, including Council Member Jason de Leon, newly appointed Council Member Gerry Lozano, former Mayor Richard Molina, and Marisa Gonzalez, Director of the Texas Healthcare Chamber of Commerce Alliance. Their presence reflected the city’s united front in support of better health outcomes and access to advanced medical care.
