Mission, Texas – On November 20, the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) held a promotion ceremony honoring more than 70 Border Patrol agents and professional staff at the Mission Events Center in Mission, Texas.
The ceremony recognized those who were promoted to a higher rank or position as well as employees reaching time in service milestones of 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of federal government service.
The awards presentation also honored personnel who went above and beyond the call of duty to preserve life while securing the border and keeping our communities safe.
A special recognition award was given to three Border Patrol agents, Jesus Adame, Hugo Ford, and Brian Hernandez, who received the Department of Homeland Secretary’s Unity of Effort Team Excellence Award as well as nine agents who received commendations from RGV Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch.
“I take great pride in recognizing these men and women for their achievements and commitment to serving our great nation,” said Chief Karisch, who presented the prestigious awards and allowed families to “pin” their loved one with their new rank insignia.
“Families are the cornerstone of our front line agents and our staff, we know that they too dedicate themselves to distinguished service and these promotions are a testament to their leadership capabilities.”
Texas Department of Public Safety Regional Director Victor Escalon served as the keynote speaker for the event attended by more than 200 friends, family, and members of the community who participated in the momentous occasion applauded by both Director Escalon and Mission Mayor O’Cana.
