EDINBURG, Texas – Border Patrol agents arrested three gang members and a sex offender attempting to enter the United States illegally.
Friday morning, Rio Grande City agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Mexican national after he entered the United States illegally. During processing, record checks revealed an arrest in Lockhart, Texas, by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) for sexual assault of a child. The man received a sentence of three years of confinement.
That same day, Kingsville agents working near Armstrong, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran national one mile north of the Javier Vega Jr. checkpoint. During processing, record checks revealed he is a Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member.
On Saturday, Rio Grande City agents working near Sullivan City, Texas, arrested 13 illegal aliens after they entered the United States. During processing, record checks for a Salvadoran national identified him as an 18th Street gang member. Additionally, his record revealed multiple arrests by the Los Angeles Police Department for robbery with convictions yielding sentences of five years and 11 years confinement.
In the same incident, a second Salvadoran national’s record checks revealed he is a member of the 18th Street gang along with multiple immigration removals.
