San Antonio, Texas– The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros will travel to San Antonio for the second of four encounter between the in state rivals. The last time the two clubs met the Toros beat San Antonio 3-2 in a thrilling second half.
The Toros seek to get the club’s first back-to-back wins in history. Rio Grande Valley defeated Swope Park Rangers 4-1 on May 21 to get the first home win in the club’s inaugural season. Jose “Memo” Rodriguez had a brace in the first half to pull the Toros ahead. Salloi got a goal for the Rangers before the first half ended. As the Swope Park Rangers pushed for a equalizer, Rob Lovejoy scored in the 88th minute to extend the Toros’ lead. Emilio Garcia sealed the game in stoppage time with his own goal.
San Antonio FC hosted Oklahoma City Energy FC. The first half went scoreless in the duel. It was not until the 59th minute that the ball found the back of the net. OKC Energy FC’s Colin Bonner got his goal off a Sebastian Dalgaard assist. San Antonio FC fell 1-0 to OKC Energy FC
After Wednesday’s game there will be two games left to be played between Rio Grande Valley FC Toros and San Antonio FC, June 4 and September 24. Both remaining games will be played at Edinburg, Texas. The Toros will travel to face Saint Louis FC on May 29 while San Antonio FC will not be playing until the June 4 game at Edinburg.
