RGV FC Toros hit the road again to face Sacramento Republic FC

Edinburg, Texas, June 17th  – The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (6-3-4) travel to California to face Sacramento Republic FC (6-3-3) on Saturday June 18th at 10:00p.m.. Only one point separates the two teams.

The Toros seek to build from a 3-0 home win against OKC Energy FC. Toros’ Jose Escalante opened the score sheet in the first half. A long distance shot from the left side of the field found its way into the net in the 14th minute. Kyle Murphy would get his first goal of the season later in the first half at the 41st minute mark. Eric Bird added to the Toros lead on stoppage time after cutting to his left and shooting a beauty that curled into the net. Rio Grande Valley goalkeeper, Callum Irving also had an astounding performance to keep the clean sheet and help the Toros win.

Sacramento Republic FC also comes back from a 2-1 win. Real Monarchs SLC opened the scoring when Ricardo Velazco scored late in the first half.  Three minutes into the second half, Sacramento found the tie when Cameron Iwasa scored off a Emrah Klimenta assist. Eight minutes later, Scramento went ahead thanks to an Adam Jahn goal.

The Toros will host two home games in one week after the Sacramento match. Arizona United SC will visit the Toros on Wednesday, June 22 while Orange County Blues come visit the Toros on June 26. Both games will kickoff at 7:30p.m. at UTRGV Soccer and Track Complex.
