Edinburg, Texas – The Rio Grande Valley FC and San Antonio FC concluded their preseason schedule with a 3-4 final score. The scrimmage consisted of two 45-minute halves.
The match kicked off with an intensity that SAFC forward Ever Guzman sent a ball to the back of the net in the 4th minute marking its South Texas territory. The Toros fought back as Carlos Small sent a curler from outside the box sending it to the top right side of the goal, 1-1, in the 21st minute. Maalique Foster striked as he took on SAFC’s defending line and made it passed the goalkeeper to the left side of the goal, 2-1. In the 31st minute, SAFC midfielder Billy Forbes received a cross inside the box and shot a canon to the top center goal to equalize the match, 2-2. San Antonio did not stop there. Jack Barmby got a ball and shot from outside the box and RGV FC goalkeeper Ben Willis deflected to the left. RGV FC fought back as Foster sent a cross to Small but was not able to finish.
As the second half started, RGV FC forward, Andy Cabrera, sent a bomb from outside the box to the center back net in the 53rd minute, 3-2. Immediately, Forbes received a pass from Guzman and sent it passed Willis as he equalized the match, 3-3. In the 60th minute, RGV FC defender Kyle Adams intended to save a shot from going into the net, but unfortunately, scored an own goal, 3-4. The match concluded with a free kick from outside the box but SAFC defending line deflected out to not allow the equalizer.
