RGV FC Falls to Locomotive in USL eCup

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley FC (1-1) fell to El Paso Locomotive FC (1-1) with an aggregate score of 12-7 on Tuesday afternoon. The first match ended with a 3-5 defeat; El Paso then ended the series with a score of 4-7. No third match was necessary.

The Locomotive struck first with a goal by Logan Ketterer 0-1, but Edson Ochoa managed to tie the game up in less than one minute, 1-1. Ochoa then shot an angled shot to score the leading goal 2-1. He then managed to score a 3-1 lead to continue on in the game, but El Paso struck a shot from a long range to get the second goal for the Locomotive 3-2. 

Ketterer smashed the ball away from the arc and scored their third goal to equalize the first matchup 3-3. The Locomotive scored the tie breaker to put the game in a 4-3 score. RGV FC fell in the first game with a 5-3 final score.

The second matchup was launched with an opener kick to goal by Ketterer who quickly earned the lead to the game 0-1. Ochoa then snapped back to tie the game 1-1. El Paso scored right back to secure the lead 1-2. With less than two minutes, Ochoa managed to score two more goals for the Toros, 3-6.

Although the Toros managed to put a fourth goal in, RGV FC continued to trail throughout the second round as the Locomotive took the second round with a 4-7 final score.  

RGV FC will finish group stage on Friday, April 10 as they look to fight for a playoff knockout stage spot against San Antonio FC. Kickoff is set at 6 p.m. CT, streamed on ESPN3. More updates will be posted on the Toros Twitter page, please follow @RGVFC.
