EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents interdict two migrant smuggling attempts.
Early this morning, Falfurrias Border Patrol Station agents working at the checkpoint apprehended five migrants concealed in the cargo area of a Ford Econoline. The concealed noncitizens were discovered hiding within furniture, following a K9 alert. Agents identified the subjects as nationals of Mexico and Honduras illegally present in the United States. The driver, passenger, and subjects were taken into Border Patrol custody and processed accordingly.
Shortly after, McAllen Border Patrol Station agents working near Havana, Texas, were following shoe prints from the Rio Grande that led to a white minivan and a Dodge Charger. As they approached the vehicles, agents observed several subjects run from the minivan and the suspected smuggler that was in the driver seat, ran to the adjacent Charger, which immediately departed the area. Agents apprehended three migrants in the immediate area, but did not locate the Charger. The minivan was turned over to the La Joya Police Department.
