EDINBURG, TX – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrest two migrants with heinous criminal convictions over the weekend.

McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended an El Salvadoran man within a group of eight migrants in Mission, Texas. Record checks revealed a prior conviction in Salem, Massachusetts, for prostitution and sentenced to five days incarceration and 12-months’ probation. He was subsequently removed from the United States.

The following morning, MCS agents working near Abram, Texas, apprehended a group of six migrants after illegally entering the United States. Record checks on Bernardo Macedo-Vargas, a Mexican national, revealed a conviction in Dallas, Texas, in 2013, for aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault of a 14-year-old child.  He was sentenced to seven years’ incarceration for the two charges.  He was subsequently sentenced to 303 days incarceration and 36 months supervision by an immigration judge for immigration related offenses.
