EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrest two previously convicted sex offenders and a gang member.
On Sept. 24, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of six migrants near Brownsville. Record checks on Estevan Carre-Calderon, a Mexican national, revealed he was convicted in Brownsville of indecency with a child in 2009. He was sentenced to ten years confinement deferred adjudication and subsequently removed from the United States.
On Sept. 25, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of 14 migrants south of Alamo. Record checks on a Mexican national, revealed he was convicted in Garland of indecency with a child in 1994. He was sentenced to six years confinement and subsequently removed from the United States.
Later that morning, McAllen Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of six migrants near La Joya. Record checks on a migrant from El Salvador revealed he is an 18th Street gang member. The migrant has previously been removed from the United States.
This fiscal year, Border Patrol agents around the nation have arrested 325 gang members, of those, more than 150 gang members were arrested in the RGV.
