EDINBURG, Texas – Kingsville Border Patrol agents arrest three criminal aliens at and near the Javier Vega Jr. Border Patrol Checkpoint in Sarita, Texas.

Sunday, January 24, 2021, Kingsville Border Patrol agents working at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint, were conducting checkpoint operations when a Mercury Sable arrived at the primary inspection area. During the immigration inspection of the driver, a service K-9 alerted to the vehicle. A search of the car lead to the discovery of three illegal aliens in the trunk. During processing, record checks on one of the illegal aliens revealed a May 2019 arrest by the Houston Sheriff’s Office for sexual assault of a child.

The following day, Kingsville agents apprehended a group of 18 subjects attempting to circumvent the checkpoint. The individuals were all identified as foreign nationals illegally present in the United States. During processing, agents discovered one of the subjects is a confirmed member of the Mara Salvatrucha gang, commonly referred to as MS-13.

Today, January 27, 2021, McAllen Border Patrol agents, arrested a national from El Salvador near Hidalgo, Texas.  During processing, record checks revealed the subject was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for lewd or lascivious acts with a minor.  The subject was sentenced to 365 days confinement with 60 months of probation.

Additionally, KIN agents arrested another illegal alien convicted of sexual assault on a child during a failed human smuggling attempt at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint.

All subjects will be processed accordingly.
