RGV Border Patrol Agents Arrest Criminal and Gang Members Over the Weekend

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested three criminal noncitizens and two gang members in a three-day span.

On Friday, April 23, 2021, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended a group of 11 undocumented migrants near Peñitas, Texas. During processing, agents discovered that a Salvadoran national, who had a prior arrest by the Santa Monica Police Department in Santa Monica, California.  He was convicted for molestation of a child under 18 years old and assault with a deadly weapon.  The subject was sentenced to 53 days confinement and three years’ probation. 

Saturday morning, MCS agents working near Hidalgo, Texas, arrested a Honduran adult male shortly after illegally entering the United States. During processing, record checks identified the man as an MS-13 gang member with a prior deportation from the United States in 2013.

Saturday evening, MCS agents apprehended two migrants near Sullivan City, Texas. The subjects were taken into custody and transported for processing.  At the station, agents discovered that one subject, a Honduran national, had a prior arrest by the Prince Georges County Police Department in Maryland in 2006.  He was convicted of 1st degree attempted murder and assault 2nd degree.  The subject was subsequently convicted and sentenced to five years’ confinement.

Sunday morning, MCS agents apprehended a migrant from Mexico shortly after illegally entering the United States. During processing, criminal record checks revealed his affiliation as a Paisas gang member.  

Last night, agents assigned to the Harlingen Border Patrol Station apprehended a group of three migrants near La Paloma, Texas.  Record checks on a national of Mexico, revealed two prior convictions for contact with a minor/mentally ill person for which he was sentenced to 365 days in jail.  The Mexican national has been previously removed from the United States. 

All subjects were processed accordingly.
