EDINBURG, Texas– Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents make significant narcotics seizures this weekend.
Saturday evening, Fort Brown agents working in Brownsville, Texas, observed four subjects carrying bundles of suspected narcotics running towards the border fence at the intersection of Dockberry Road and Oklahoma Road. Agents quickly responded to the area and discovered three subjects hidden in tall grass with bundles of what was later determined to be marijuana. The marijuana weighed approximately 77 pounds with an estimated street value of over $62K. All subjects, including one unaccompanied juvenile, were determined to be citizens of Mexico.
Yesterday afternoon, a Toyota Sequoia arrived at the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint for inspection. The vehicle was referred to the secondary inspection after a service K9 alerted to the vehicle. Further inspection revealed personal use amounts of marijuana, cocaine, THC gummies, and a loaded firearm not registered to the driver. The case was turned over to Brooks County Sheriff’s Office.
Later that day at the Javier Vega Jr. Border Patrol Checkpoint, a Toyota Camry arrived for inspection. A K9 alert prompted further inspection of the vehicle which revealed personal use amounts of marijuana and a loaded handgun found in the glove compartment. The case was turned over to the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, Kingsville agents seized over $8.4M of cocaine and Falfurrias agents seized nearly $5.3M of methamphetamine.
The narcotics seized by Border Patrol were turned over to investigating agencies, and all subjects were processed accordingly.
