EDINBURG, Texas – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector arrested three migrants with serious criminal history.
Yesterday morning, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended a group of 33 noncitizens near La Joya, Texas. Record checks for a Guatemalan adult female identified her as a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member with two previous removals from the United States.
Yesterday evening, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of migrants in Roma, Texas. During processing, agents discovered that one noncitizen, a Mexican national, had a prior arrest by the Spring Valley Village Police Department, New York, in 2002, for rape – victim less than 17 years old. He was convicted and sentenced to 279 days confinement. The criminal migrant has also been convicted twice for felony illegal re-entry in immigration proceedings, in which he was sentenced to 33- and 30-months confinement.
This morning, MCS agents responded to a call for assistance from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) with a vehicle stop in Sullivan City, Texas. DPS seized the vehicle and retained custody of the driver. Agents took custody of the smuggled migrants. During processing, agents discovered that Joel Deniz-Aguilar, a Mexican national, had a prior arrest by the Pomona Police Department, California, in 1998, for lewd acts with a child under 14 years old. He was convicted and sentenced to six years confinement. Deniz has also been convicted for felony illegal re-entry in immigration proceedings, in which he was sentenced to 40 months incarceration.
RGV agents have arrested over 1,100 criminal migrants this fiscal year.
Border Patrol processed both subjects accordingly.
