Texs Border Business
EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents and local law enforcement partners disrupted two human smuggling stash houses, a large group, and assisted four injured migrants.
On April 21, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents observed several subjects load into a parked Hyundai SUV. The vehicle quickly pulled away as agents approached and failed to yield after agents activated emergency equipment. While agents were in pursuit of the SUV, four subjects were observed leaping from the fast-moving vehicle. The pursuit was handed over to the Mercedes Police Department (MPD) while agents assisted the four injured migrants now in their custody. All four migrants were determined to be unlawfully present in the U.S. Among the group were two unaccompanied children: a 16-year-old Mexican female and a 16-year-old Mexican male. EMS was requested for the subjects, and they were transported to a local hospital. The MPD was unable to locate the vehicle.
Also on April 21, RGV agents working in coordination with the Edinburg Police Department received information of a suspected stash house in Edinburg. RGV agents and local law enforcement convened at the residence and discovered 20 migrants who were unlawfully present in the U.S. No caretaker was identified.
About an hour later, RGV agents received information of a suspected stash house in Pharr. Agents and Pharr Police Department officers convened at the residence and discovered 5 migrants who were unlawfully present in the U.S. No caretaker was identified.
Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents encountered a large group totaling 116 noncitizens near La Grulla. The group consisted of 35 family members, 29 unaccompanied children, and 52 single adults. The migrants were from Central America and Cuba.
Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
