FALFURRIAS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrest a gang member illegally crossing the border in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

Yesterday afternoon, Falfurrias agents arrested a Salvadoran national after he attempted to circumvent the immigration checkpoint by traversing Brooks County ranchlands. During processing, record checks revealed the man is a member of the Mara-Salvatrucha gang, commonly known as the MS-13. Record checks also revealed multiple arrest including vehicle theft and burglary in Los Angeles, California.

Border Patrol referred the man for criminal prosecution.
