RGV Agents Arrest Four Sex Offenders and a Gang Member

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) agents arrested four migrants with previous convictions for heinous crimes, to include sexual assault of minors, an 18th Street gang member was also taken into custody. 

On Friday, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper turned over a migrant from El Salvador that emerged from the brush in Roma, Texas.  As agents were processing the subject, they discovered he had been previously arrested by the Nantucket Police Department in eastern Massachusetts, for assault and battery on a person with intellectual disability.  He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to two years’ probation. He has also been previously removed from the United States. 

That afternoon, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC) agents responded to a request from the Rio Grande City Police Department for assistance at a residence where they apprehended 43 migrants. Record checks on a Honduran national, revealed he had been previously arrested by Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina for criminal sex conduct with a minor, a 2nd degree felony. He was sentenced to eight years’ incarceration.  The subject has also been removed from the United States more than three times.

On Saturday evening, RGV agents arrested four subjects at a vehicle bailout near Falfurrias, Texas. Record checks on Pedro Bolom-Chiac, a national of Guatemala, revealed he had been arrested for battery of a spouse by Santa Ana, California, Police Department. For that crime he was convicted to 30 days confinement and three years’ probation.  A year later, he was again arrested by Los Angeles, CA, Sheriff’s Office for sexual battery/touch for sexual arousal and convicted to six months’ probation. During the same incident, he was also convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and convicted to three years’ confinement. He was removed from the United States just over a month ago.

Yesterday, McAllen Border Patrol Station agents apprehended several migrants near Abrams, Texas.  Record check on a Salvadoran national revealed he is an 18th Street gang member.

Today, RGC agents arrested a group of six migrants in Rio Grande City, Texas.  Record checks on Kevin Cruz-Claros, a Honduran national, revealed he had been arrested by Henry County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia for sexual intercourse – carnal knowledge of a child 13-14 years of age: without force.  He was convicted and sentenced to five years’ incarceration. He was subsequently removed from the United States. 

Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.
