AUSTIN, TX – Today, State Representative Sergio Muñoz, Jr. (D-Palmview) was appointed to serve as a member of the House Appropriations Committee and as Vice-Chair of the Land and Resource Management Committee by Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen.
Currently serving his fifth term in the Texas House of Representatives, Representative Muñoz’s key committee appointments give our region a strong voice in the budget-making process as well as how the state manages the use of public lands and its resources.

Muñoz after receiving his assignments. “I want to thank Speaker Bonnen for entrusting me with these assignments and for placing me in a position to continue to serve Texas through my work on these committees.”
As the 4th seniority ranking member of the 27-member House Appropriations Committee, Representative Muñoz is distinctively well-versed in the state’s budget-writing process. He is prepared to collaborate with his colleagues to address the pressing demands of the state and particularly, of the Rio Grande Valley.
As Vice-Chair of the Land and Resource Management Committee, Rep. Muñoz will tackle issues that the committee has jurisdiction over such as the management of public lands, the power of eminent domain, and governmental regulation of land use.
Rep. Sergio Muñoz, Jr. has served in the Texas Legislature since 2011 and represents all or parts of the cities of Hidalgo, Granjeno, McAllen, Mission, Palmview, and Pharr. His Capitol office is located in room 4S.2. Constituents are encouraged to come by to meet the Representative and his staff.
