Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) expressed strong support for the One Big Beautiful Bill, which was signed into law by President Trump on July 4, 2025. In a written statement, De La Cruz called the legislation “historic,” citing its broad impact on taxes, family benefits, rural investment, and national security.

“This week, I was proud to support the One Big Beautiful Bill once again in the House and send this historic legislation to President Trump for his signature,” said De La Cruz. “This legislation solidifies the largest tax cut in history, boosts the Child Tax Credit for American families, eliminates tax on tips and overtime for hard-working South Texans, invests in border security, and sustains the programs that many in our communities rely on by rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse.”

The law includes several key provisions:
• A historic tax cut targeting middle- and working-class Americans
• An increase in the Child Tax Credit to $2,200, benefiting over 40 million families
• The elimination of federal taxes on tips, overtime income, and Social Security benefits for seniors
• Billions in federal investment for rural hospitals, crop insurance, and risk management tools for American farmers
• Enhanced national security measures, including funding for the Golden Dome defense system
• Comprehensive border security support, including completion of Phase 2 of the border wall, hiring of additional Border Patrol agents, and multi-year bonuses for frontline personnel

The signing ceremony on July 4 featured patriotic fanfare and military flyovers. President Trump called the law his “most popular bill ever signed,” signaling its symbolic significance alongside its policy impact.

Congresswoman De La Cruz, who took office in January 2023, is the first Republican—and first Hispanic Republican woman—to represent Texas’s 15th Congressional District in the U.S. House. A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBA, she has focused her legislative agenda on border security, agriculture, water rights, and protecting seniors’ benefits.

During her first term, De La Cruz passed six bills, including her first targeting fentanyl trafficking. She currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee and is a member of the Congressional Western Caucus.

With the enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill, De La Cruz reaffirmed her commitment to delivering meaningful policy for her district. “This legislation is a promise kept to South Texans,” she stated.
