WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Ph.D. (TX-28), made the following statement after voting to pass the Water Resources Development Act of 2024:
“Water is life, that is why today, I voted to pass critical legislation that prioritizes improving water infrastructure across South Texas. I was pleased to have secured language in the Water Resources Development Act for essential projects and improvements in our community,” said Dr Cuellar. “As a member of Congress, it is my job to ensure communities in South Texas have the resources they need to thrive. I look forward to working with my colleagues across the aisle to ensure this bill becomes law.”
Specifically, Dr. Cuellar helped secure:
- Language authorizing $200 million for environmental infrastructure projects in Texas
- Language to restore Martinez Creek in Bexar County
- Language to authorize a flood risk management study for the Santa Clara Creek Watershed in Guadalupe County
- $20 million project authorization to improve water and wastewater infrastructure in Webb County
- Language allowing Lake Casa Blanca to be eligible for federal assistance with dredging
- $20 million project authorization to improve water and wastewater infrastructure in Zapata County
- Language allowing Falcon Lake to be eligible for federal assistance with dredging.
