Washington, DC — U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) highlighted a new report from the White House outlining how he delivered nearly double the annual investment to help Texas families afford energy costs. In total, Congressman Cuellar helped secure $283.9 million for Texas through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in the American Rescue Plan and annual appropriations. As Americans continue to deal with the impacts of the pandemic and high energy costs, Texas families and seniors can use these investments to lower the costs of staying warm this winter, cover utilities and pay for energy repairs.
“As hardworking Texans continue recovering from the pandemic, this investment is helping families afford energy costs and stay warm, safe and healthy this winter,” said Congressman Cuellar. “After the devastating winter storm last year, I will continue to provide Texans with every possible resource for energy costs as we enter the winter months.”
Local families who need assistance should contact the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
